IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is one of the largest international professional organizations dedicated to promote women engineers and scientists and inspire girls around the world to follow their academic interests to a career in engineering with the mission of   facilitating the global recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines.

IEEE WIE Affinity Group of University of Peradeniya was established to inspire and empower young females to use their diverse talents, in achieving the technical eminence with the proper maintenance of work-life balance, and to innovate for the betterment of humanity. Our Affinity Group organizes technical workshops, charity work, promotional activities and many other events to achieve the mission of IEEE WIE. We also encourage our members to connect with the IEEE WIE community and collaborate with the Sri Lanka Section, R10 and the worldwide WIE network to participate and contribute in many activities and programs organized.

As an affinity group we are organizing various events to empower women engineers, young undergraduates as well as other women in the country with technical and social skills. Several events we held in this year are as follows:

• Communication Service Provider Lecture series
• Women’s day celebration along with two invited speeches
• Empirical – Panel discussion collaboration with IEEE Student Branch University of Peradeniya
• Pathscape ( First step to be an entrepreneur ) – webinar collaboration with YES hub, IEEE student Branch University of Peradeniya and Young Entrepreneur’s society University of Peradeniya
