IEEE WIE Affinity Group of
Sri Lanka Technological Campus

With the expedition of facilitating the global recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines, IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is one of the largest international professional associations intended to promote women engineers, scientists, and empowering girls around the world to implement their intellectual interests to a career in engineering. The IEEE WIE student affinity group of SLTC is one of the most emerging groups in Sri Lanka within the top WIE affinity groups in the Sri Lankan section consisting of active and vigorous members.

The IEEE WIE student affinity group of SLTC is an organization devoted mainly to enrich and develop skills needed for women and girls in the STEM fields. IEEE WIE Affinity Group of Sri Lanka Technological Campus was established to encourage and empower young females to use their diverse talents in achieving technical eminence while maintaining an appropriate work-life balance, to enhance the betterment and survival of women in engineering and to support females who have contributed to the diverse fields of engineering. To achieve the mission, our Affinity Group organizes technical workshops, charity work, promotional activities, and a variety of other events. Within a span of just 3 years, our organization has achieved major success thereby completing many projects, which includes the projects ‘Women to rise above the pandemic’ and Graphico ’20.

We are conducting various programs as an affinity group to motivate women engineers, young undergraduates, and other women across the country with technical and social skills. Our major accomplishments so far are as follows,

  • Successfully completed national level projects
  • As a student branch,has won awards in the region 10 Sri Lanka section
  • Annually completes projects mainly involving females related to electronics engineering, mechatronics engineering, civil engineering, bio systems engineering and IT field.
